Two weeks down, fifteen to go! Saying it like that makes it almost seem that the NFL season is going to fly by. Week 2 was a good enough week of games. But it might be remembered as a week that changed a few teams entire season. Three QB injuries among a Super Bowl hopeful team, the Chicago Bears. A team that could have had their rebuild show results, the New York Giants. And a team whoās whole season depended on their QB staying healthy, the Washington Commanders. Those three injuries may have changed the entire landscape of the NFC.
Even with those injuries which saw the Bears, Commanders, and Giants take losses I had a good week with my picks. Hereās my running record this season.
WEEK 1 8-8
WEEK 2 11-5
TOTAL RECORD 19-13
Not a bad start after 2 weeks. I know Iām not picking against the spread which would be a bit more difficult. But for me this is a throwback to when I had an office job and we played a weekly pick āem that just was just who picked the most games correct for that week and you won the entry fees of that week. I donāt remember ever winning one. A week when I had 11 right Iād still run up against somebody that got 13 or more right. Part of does miss those simpler times.
Without further ado, hereās my Week 3 picks:
Atlanta at Green Bay Falcons 24-21
LA Chargers at Buffalo Bills 38-24
Carolina at Cleveland Browns 24-20
NY Jets at Detroit Lions 41-31
Houston at Indianapolis Texans 24-18
Kansas City at Miami Chiefs 30-10
Tennessee at NY Giants Titans 20-14
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh Bengals 35-13
Seattle at Washington Seahawks 24-15
New England at Jacksonville Jaguars 28-27
Arizona at San Francisco 49ers 27-10
Minnesota at Tampa Bay Vikings 23-17
Baltimore vs Dallas(in Rio De Janeiro) Ravens 17-14
Las Vegas at New Orleans Saints 22-20
LA Rams at Denver Broncos 27-24
Philadelphia at Chicago Eagles 21-14
Thereās my picks. What do you think? Iām not crazy about some of them, but with the NFL crazy can happen. Let me point out a few of the games I think could go the other way as a bit of a hedge, and so I can say next week that I called it.
Packers can beat the Falcons at home but I see Atlanta improving with the return of Michael Penix
Jets/Lions I see as a toss up. Good game to keep an eye on early
Colts can upset the Texans at home and they do need it to save their season
Maybe the Giants show some heart after Jaxon Dartās season ending injury and beat the Titans
Patriots/Jaguars is a toss up too. Iām just giving the edge to Jacksonville being at home
Tampa Bay like the Colts needs to win at home or they are behind the eight ball too at 0-3
The Ravens and Dallas playing internationally makes this a bit of a toss up too. Neither team looked amazing or terrible after two games. And talk of not the greatest turf conditions in Rio could hamper each team in different ways
The Raiders can beat the Saints. I think both of these franchises looking up and this could be very entertaining
But my picks above are my official picks. That will be for the scoreboard. Seeing NFL Week 3 now in black and white it looks like a great weekend of games. There could be a lot riding on teamās performances this weekend. We could see some surprising teams be 0-3. Thereās potential for some 3-0 teams no one considered before the season started. And there could be some divisions where we could start to see some teams sweat a bit if they stumble to 1-2. This might be a week to look back on come weeks 16-17 and see where some teams' seasons started to unravel. Man the NFL is just jam packed with storylines week after week! Enjoy your Week 3 everyone
