Aiyuk alleged that Lynch's visit was an attempt to apologize for actions taken by head coach Kyle Shanahan. He expressed his displeasure, stating, "We is not cool. Background on Aiyuk's Contract and Team Relations
In August 2024, Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million extension with the 49ers. However, after missing mandatory team meetings and activities, the team voided the remaining guarantees in his contract. This decision led to Aiyuk being placed on the reserve/left squad list in December 2025, effectively ending his season. Despite this, Aiyuk remains on the roster, with the team exploring trade options. Lynch mentioned, "I've had some discussions. Do I think it's a high probability? Likely no. But is there a chance?
