Alvin Kamara's Uncertain Future
Running back Alvin Kamara's status with the New Orleans Saints has been a topic of ongoing speculation. Despite being under contract, Kamara's role in head coach Kellen Moore's offense remains uncertain. The acquisition of running back Travis Etienne Jr. has further fueled questions about Kamara's fit within the team's plans. Kamara's participation in the team's offseason activities has been limited, with his attendance at voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs) being sporadic. His presence at the upcoming mandatory minicamp is anticipated but not confirmed, leaving his future with the team in question.
Cam Jordan's Contract Negotiations
Edge rusher Cam Jordan's tenure with the Saints is also under scrutiny. General Manager Mickey Loomis has acknowledged the team's desire to retain the 15-year veteran, stating that an offer has been made to Jordan. However, the specifics of this offer and Jordan's response remain undisclosed. Jordan has previously expressed dissatisfaction with his reworked, incentive-laden contract, which he played under during a resurgent 10.5-sack season in 2025. The outcome of these negotiations could significantly impact the Saints' defensive lineup for the upcoming season.
Leadership Structure and Team Captains
The Saints' leadership structure is another area of focus as the team prepares for the 2026 season. Traditionally, the team has appointed captains to represent the players on and off the field. The selection of captains for the upcoming season has not been publicly announced, leading to speculation about potential leaders within the locker room. The decisions made regarding team leadership could influence the team's dynamics and performance throughout the season.
Upcoming Mandatory Minicamp
The Saints are scheduled to hold their mandatory minicamp on June 16-17, 2026. This two-day camp will serve as the final organized team activity before the team breaks for training camp in late July. The minicamp is expected to provide clarity on the participation of key players like Kamara and Jordan, as well as insights into the team's leadership decisions. Fans and analysts alike will be closely watching for developments during this period, as the Saints aim to address these lingering questions ahead of the new season.
