KFL Owner brings awareness to more than just fishing

Jim Johnston, a proud native of Carroll, Iowa, is a truly exceptional individual who embodies the essence of adventure, philanthropy, and patriotism. Standing tall at 6 feet 8 inches, Jim is a towering figure, both physically and in spirit, with a heart as big as his stature.  He is known for his infamous handshake and bear hugs that you'll never forget. 

His passion for kayak fishing runs deep, and he is always striving to improve his skills and techniques. As a student of the sport, he spends countless hours volunteering with fish biologists from Virginia and seeking out new and innovative ways to take his fishing to the next level. His fishing vessel of choice is a Blue Sky kayak, and he is especially fond of using the swimbait style of fishing.

Jim's love for his country is equally as strong, and he is a proud Army veteran who served in "Operation Iraqi Freedom". He is also a dedicated advocate for 22 a Day, a non-profit organization that works to raise awareness about the staggering statistic of 22 veterans who commit suicide every day. Jim is committed to making a difference in the lives of veterans and supporting their efforts to heal and rebuild.

He is a student of the art of gourmet-style cooking, sharply dressed individual, very detailed into all he does.  He expects nothing short of the best in what he does and demands that and encourages others by example.

Jim's family is the cornerstone of his life, and he is a father, husband, and dog lover. He has two beautiful German Shepherds, who he considers to be members of his family, and he is passionate about their care and well-being. He is a devoted man and works tirelessly to provide for his loved ones.

He is a proud part-owner of the Washington Warhawks. His entrepreneurial spirit is unmatched, and he is always seeking new and exciting opportunities to expand his franchise and make a positive impact in his community.
