Game Recap

In a thrilling matchup, the Miami Marlins defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-6 on Friday night at loanDepot park. The game showcased a flurry of offensive fireworks, highlighted by the Marlins' ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities while the Diamondbacks struggled at critical moments.

Miami jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Otto Lopez was spectacular, going 3-for-5 with four runs scored, while Xavier Edwards contributed significantly with two RBIs on two hits. The Marlins established control of the game early, putting Arizona on the back foot.

The Diamondbacks didn't go down quietly, however. Ketel Marte showed impressive consistency, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs. His efforts provided a spark, but ultimately, it was not enough to close the gap created by Miami’s early onslaught. The Marlins’ pitching also played a pivotal role in stifling the Diamondbacks' late-game attempts to rally.

In the fourth inning, Corbin Carroll launched a two-run homer, part of a 1-for-5 night at the plate where he drove in a total of two runs. This blast momentarily narrowed the score to 6-4, igniting hopes for Arizona. However, the Marlins responded emphatically, scoring two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, including a two-RBI single by Kyle Stowers.

Despite the Diamondbacks posting runs in the eighth and ninth innings, they faced a daunting task trailing 10-4. Gabriel Moreno also contributed a notable performance, going 1-for-3 with a home run and adding an RBI. Still, pitching woes for Arizona, particularly from Zach Gallen and Brandyn Garcia, allowed the Marlins to maintain their lead and secure the victory.

On the mound, Max Meyer earned the win for Miami, throwing 5.1 innings and allowing only two earned runs on seven hits. His performance paved the way for Miami’s strong offensive showing as they supported him with consistent hitting throughout the game.
