Game Recap

The Athletics lost to the Detroit Tigers 1-4 in a contest held at Comerica Park. The game was characterized by strong pitching from the Tigers' staff, who limited the Athletics to a single run while the Detroit offense utilized the long ball to pull ahead and maintain their lead throughout the afternoon.

Detroit's offense provided the decisive cushion early on, anchored by three individual home runs. Zach McKinstry, Eduardo Valencia, and Jake Rogers each contributed solo shots that proved vital in the 4-1 victory. While Athletics starter Jack Perkins worked three innings, he surrendered all three of those home runs, putting his team in an early hole they could not climb out of.

Athletics pitcher Jose Suarez provided a clean start to the game, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts, but the momentum shifted once the middle relievers entered. Hogan Harris later surrendered the third solo shot of the day in his one inning of work. Conversely, Detroit's pitching staff remained largely in control, stifling the Athletics' lineup for the duration of the contest.

Key Performances

Framber Valdez delivered a dominant performance for the Tigers, earning the win after tossing 7.0 innings of one-run ball. He struck out nine Athletics hitters while scattering three hits and issuing no walks, keeping the visiting lineup off-balance all day. Kyle Finnegan and Kenley Jansen combined to shut the door in the final two frames, with Jansen allowing one hit and a walk but recording a strikeout to finish the game.

On the offensive side, the Athletics saw some production from Jacob Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Shea Langeliers added a 1-for-2 day with a walk, while Jonah Heim and Jeff McNeil each contributed a hit. Despite those efforts, the Athletics struggled to bunch hits together, with Henry Bolte picking up the lone RBI for the team on the day.

For the Tigers, Zach McKinstry highlighted the lineup with his 1-for-4 performance that included a solo home run and two RBIs. Eduardo Valencia and Jake Rogers made the most of their limited opportunities, each entering the game and hitting solo home runs in their only at-bats. Kevin McGonigle, Matt Vierling, and Hao-Yu Lee also chipped in with a base hit apiece to help pace the Detroit attack.
