Game Recap

Atlanta Braves defeated Pittsburgh Pirates 3-0 at PNC Park on Wednesday. The contest was defined by stellar pitching from both sides, as starters held the offenses at bay for the majority of the game. Atlanta's Grant Holmes set the tone early, blanking the Pirates over 5.0 innings while allowing only three hits and striking out five. The Braves' bullpen maintained the shutout, with Didier Fuentes, Dylan Dodd, Dylan Lee, and Raisel Iglesias combining to throw four hitless innings to seal the victory.

For the Pirates, Jared Jones was spectacular, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings without allowing a single hit and striking out eight batters on 77 pitches. The game remained a scoreless deadlock until late in the proceedings. The Braves finally broke through against the Pirates' relief corps in the final frames, manufacturing the three runs necessary to secure the win.

Key Performances

The Braves' offense found its rhythm late, led by Joey Bart who finished 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Drake Baldwin also contributed significantly, going 1-for-4 with an RBI. Mike Yastrzemski and Michael Harris II both recorded hits and scored runs for Atlanta. On the pitching side, Grant Holmes was the pitcher of record for his 5.0 innings of work, while the collective effort of the relief staff stifled the Pittsburgh lineup.

Pittsburgh's lineup struggled to string hits together throughout the night. Brandon Lowe, Bryan Reynolds, Ryan O'Hearn, and Marcell Ozuna each tallied one hit, but the team failed to capitalize on opportunities. Despite the strong start from Jared Jones, the relief appearances by Dennis Santana and Isaac Mattson ultimately led to the three runs that gave the Braves the advantage.
