Game Recap

In an intense matchup at T-Mobile Park, the Boston Red Sox lost to the Seattle Mariners 1-3. The Mariners displayed a solid performance, especially on the mound, as they limited the Red Sox to just one run and effectively utilized timely hitting to secure the win.

Seattle's starting pitcher, Logan Gilbert, had an impressive outing, throwing 6.1 innings while giving up only three hits, one run, and striking out eight batters. Despite allowing a home run to Boston's Nate Eaton, who went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI, Gilbert’s performance kept the Mariners in control for most of the game. This victory improves his ERA to 3.29 for the season.

The Mariners struck first in the contest, with Dominic Canzone’s standout moment coming in the third inning when he hit a home run, driving in two runs and putting Seattle up 2-0. Canzone concluded the day with a batting line of 1-for-3, contributing significantly to his team’s success. Additionally, Weston Wilson provided another run for the Mariners with a solo effort, which solidified their lead.

On the batting front for the Red Sox, Caleb Durbin stood out with a solid performance, recording two hits from three at-bats. However, the rest of the lineup struggled to make an impact, with several players, including Anthony Seigler and Willson Contreras, unable to register a hit, going 0-for-4 in their respective at-bats. The Red Sox managed just five hits in total during the game.

Boston’s pitching also had its moments, with Payton Tolle pitching six innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits, while striking out two. Tolle’s performance kept the game manageable but ultimately fell short against the Mariners’ robust offense. Meanwhile, Danny Coulombe and Ryan Watson combined for two innings of scoreless relief, indicating some positives for Boston on the mound.

In addition to the aforementioned players, Seattle's J.P. Crawford contributed a key performance, going 1-for-3 with a walk, while Julio Rodriguez provided a run for the Mariners, finishing 1-for-3 with an RBI. Their contributions further solidified the Mariners’ efforts in this home win.
