Game Recap

Chicago Cubs defeated Cincinnati Reds 5-3 at Great American Ball Park in a competitive matchup. The Cubs offense struck early and often, finding production across the lineup to maintain a narrow lead throughout the contest. Both starting pitchers labored, but the Cubs' relief staff managed to suppress the Reds' offense late in the game to secure the win.

Javier Assad took the mound for Chicago, pitching 5.0 innings while allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out four. Despite surrendering two home runs, Assad provided enough stability to keep the Cubs in the game. On the opposing side, Nick Lodolo pitched 5.0 innings for Cincinnati, allowing two runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

The game turned in the middle and late innings as the bullpens were put to work. While the Reds managed to stay within striking distance, the Cubs' ability to generate timely hits, including a key home run from Alex Bregman and a strong day at the plate for Michael Busch, ultimately proved to be the difference in the final score.
