Game Recap

The Cincinnati Reds lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 2-4 in a competitive matchup at American Family Field. The game showcased solid pitching and timely hitting by the Brewers, who managed to secure the victory despite some bright moments from the Reds. Andrew Abbott took the mound for Cincinnati, pitching a total of 5 innings while allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 3 batters. However, his five walks contributed to difficulty in keeping the Brewers at bay.

The scoring was opened in the first inning when Garrett Mitchell put the Brewers on the board with a well-executed run that ultimately came off a double. By the game's fourth inning, the Brewers were up 2-0 courtesy of timely hitting from players like William Contreras, who would also contribute later with an RBI.

In response, the Reds found their footing with a home run from Noelvi Marte in the fifth inning, bringing in two runs and closing the gap, tying the game at 2-2. Marte finished the game with 1 hit in 4 at-bats, including that pivotal home run that demonstrated his potential.

However, the Brewers answered back decisively in the bottom of the fifth. With crucial contributions from Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn, both acquiring hits, Milwaukee regained the lead. By the end of the fifth inning, they had pushed their score to 4, with the Reds struggling to respond offensively late in the game.

On the pitching side for Milwaukee, Shane Drohan had a strong outing, pitching 5.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and allowing 2 runs while striking out 7 players. His performance was backed by effective relief pitching from Aaron Ashby, Abner Uribe, and Trevor Megill, who collectively allowed no further runs for the Reds, sealing the victory for Milwaukee.
