Game Recap

Cleveland Guardians lost to Cincinnati Reds 0-2 at Great American Ball Park. The Reds secured the win behind a narrow offensive margin, anchored by a solo home run from JJ Bleday. Despite the tight score, the pitching remained the primary story throughout the contest.

The Reds utilized a committee approach on the mound, with Caleb Ferguson, Julian Garcia, Jose Franco, Tejay Antone, and Emilio Pagan combining for a shutout effort against the Guardians lineup. Jose Franco provided the longest outing of the staff, working 3.2 innings while allowing only one hit and two walks.

For the Guardians, Gavin Williams took the loss despite a strong performance. Williams pitched 7.0 innings, striking out 12 batters and allowing two earned runs on three hits, including the home run to Bleday. Daniel Espino provided an inning of relief, striking out three of the four batters he faced.

Key Performances

JJ Bleday provided the difference for the Reds, going 1-for-3 with a home run and one RBI. Dane Myers also contributed to the scoring, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored, while Ivan Johnson added a hit and a walk. Conversely, Elly De La Cruz struggled to find rhythm at the plate, finishing 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

The Guardians offense struggled to convert on base runners, managing only three hits as a team. Travis Bazzana, Gabriel Arias, and Austin Hedges each tallied a single in the losing effort. Steven Kwan reached base twice via a walk and a hit-by-pitch, but the team ultimately could not push a run across against the deep Reds bullpen.
