Game Recap

The Colorado Rockies lost to the San Diego Padres 1-3 in a hard-fought contest held at Petco Park. The Padres secured the victory through a balanced offensive effort and a dominant performance from their bullpen, which held the Rockies to just one run on the day.

San Diego took control early, leveraging consistent contact to build their three-run lead. The Rockies struggled to generate momentum against the Padres' pitching staff, which combined for thirteen strikeouts over the course of the game. Despite a late rally attempt, the Colorado offense could not overcome the early deficit.

Key Performances

Colorado's Gabriel Hughes took the loss, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out two. The bullpen provided solid relief, with Brennan Bernardino and Zach Agnos combining for three scoreless innings and only one hit surrendered. Offensively, Brett Sullivan provided a bright spot for the Rockies, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

For the Padres, several players contributed to the winning cause. Fernando Tatis Jr. finished 1-for-3 with a walk, while Manny Machado and Ty France each added a hit and a run scored. Jackson Merrill, Luis Rengifo, and Gavin Sheets were responsible for the Padres' runs driven in, capitalizing on their opportunities throughout the lineup.

The pitching staff for San Diego was stellar, headlined by Griffin Canning, who tossed 3.0 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Kyle Hart started the game and provided 2.2 innings of scoreless work. The late-game trio of Wandy Peralta, Bradgley Rodriguez, Jeremiah Estrada, and Mason Miller effectively stifled any hope of a Rockies comeback to seal the win.
