Game Recap

Houston Astros defeated Chicago White Sox 9-5 in a contest at Rate Field that saw the visitors rally late to secure the win. While the White Sox held their own early, the Houston offense proved too much to handle as the game progressed, combining for 13 hits throughout the evening.

The Astros' starting pitcher, Spencer Arrighetti, worked one inning, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks. However, the bullpen stabilized the game quickly. AJ Blubaugh provided two scoreless innings of relief, followed by two innings from Kai-Wei Teng. The relief core of Bennett Sousa, Bryan Abreu, Steven Okert, and Josh Hader then combined to blank the White Sox for the remainder of the contest, with Hader striking out two in a perfect final inning.

Chicago starter Davis Martin lasted five innings, giving up four runs on six hits, but the game turned in the later frames when the Houston offense began to capitalize on defensive gaps. Despite a solid performance from Trevor Richards, who kept the Astros scoreless across two innings, the White Sox were unable to overcome the deficit established by the Astros' middle-inning rally.

Key Performances

Jeremy Pena paced the Houston attack by going 3-for-6, while teammate Jose Altuve also contributed a productive 3-for-5 performance with an RBI. Cam Smith provided significant pop, finishing 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Christian Walker proved effective in the clutch, going 1-for-5 with a game-high three RBIs.

For the White Sox, Braden Montgomery stood out by going 3-for-5 with one RBI. Sam Antonacci added two hits in four at-bats, while Chase Meidroth drove in two runs on one hit. Despite these contributions, the Chicago lineup struggled to sustain rallies against the effective late-inning pitching provided by the Astros' bullpen.
