The Houston Astros defeated the Detroit Tigers 2-1 in a tightly contested game at Comerica Park. This thrilling matchup featured a superb pitching performance from both teams, but it was the Astros who managed to secure the victory with timely hitting and strong defense.

Astros starter Tatsuya Imai was impressive on the mound, throwing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out 10 batters. His ability to keep the Tigers offense at bay was a critical factor in the Astros' victory. Imai's control was evident, walking only one batter and maintaining his composure under pressure, showcased by his 96 pitches with a solid 63 strikes.

The scoring began in the top of the seventh inning when Taylor Trammell delivered a crucial moment for the Astros, going 1-for-2 with a home run. His shot helped put Houston on the board first. Just moments before, the game had remained scoreless, and Trammell's timely hit energized the Astros' dugout as they looked to capitalize on the momentum gained.

The Tigers answered back in the same inning when Dillon Dingler hit a solo home run, scoring one run and bringing the game to a 1-1 tie. Dingler had a notable game, going 1-for-3 while also contributing an RBI to his team's effort. However, Houston's response was swift as they retook the lead shortly thereafter.

The Astros solidified their position in the top of the eighth inning when they scored the deciding run. Jeremy Pena, who finished 2-for-4 in the game, contributed significantly with a hit to keep the Astros' hopes alive. The real decisive hit came off the bat of Cam Smith, who went 1-for-3, helping to push the score to 2-1 for Houston and ultimately sealing the game in their favor.

The Astros' bullpen did their part in preserving the lead with AJ Blubaugh and Enyel De Los Santos pitching effectively. Blubaugh faced three batters in the seventh inning without allowing a run, while De Los Santos encountered some trouble, yielding a home run to Dingler but ultimately managing to keep the Tigers from scoring additional runs. Houston's closer, Kenley Jansen, faced some late-game drama, allowing two hits but preventing further damage to secure the win.
