Game Recap

Kansas City Royals lost to Detroit Tigers 3-4 in a closely contested battle at Comerica Park. The game remained a pitchers' duel through the early innings, with Royals starter Randy Dobnak delivering five scoreless frames, allowing only four hits and striking out three while walking one. On the other side, Tigers starter Troy Melton matched the effort, allowing two runs on five hits over five innings of work.

The Royals managed to get on the board thanks to an Isaac Collins home run, which accounted for two of their three runs. Josh Rojas also contributed at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Michael Massey added two hits and scored a run. Despite their efforts, the Royals' bullpen struggled late in the game, allowing the Tigers to mount a comeback.

The turning point arrived when the Tigers' offense broke through against the Royals' relief corps. James Outman provided the biggest blow for Detroit, launching a home run that accounted for three RBIs, which proved critical in the one-run victory. Dillon Dingler also played a key role, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

The Tigers utilized a committee approach in relief to protect their lead. After Melton's departure, Tyler Holton, Jacob Waguespack, Drew Anderson, Drew Sommers, and Kyle Finnegan combined to limit the Royals' offensive opportunities. Finnegan ultimately shut the door, securing the final outs to clinch the win.
