Game Recap

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 in a competitive contest hosted at Busch Stadium. While the Cardinals saw an impressive 4.2-inning outing from Dustin May, who struck out seven batters while allowing zero earned runs, the Brewers' bullpen and late-inning offensive production proved to be the difference-maker.

Shane Drohan provided the Brewers with a solid start, going 6.0 innings and allowing three runs, though only one was earned, on six hits. He struck out two and walked two before handing the ball over to the relief core. Chad Patrick and Trevor Megill were instrumental in closing the door, combining for three scoreless innings and four strikeouts to preserve the narrow lead.

Key Performances

The Brewers' offense was led by David Hamilton, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Brice Turang, who also drove in two runs while going 1-for-4. Garrett Mitchell contributed a strong performance at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored. Despite struggling to drive in runs early, the Brewers utilized these key hits to capitalize on defensive lapses by the Cardinals' relief pitching.

For St. Louis, Jose Fermin and Masyn Winn both recorded two hits, with Winn driving in a run. Nelson Velazquez contributed a hit and an RBI in his three at-bats. However, the Cardinals' pitching staff faced difficulties in high-leverage situations, particularly when Ryan Fernandez surrendered three runs in his outing, which ultimately allowed Milwaukee to overtake the lead.

Milwaukee's victory was bolstered by clean work from their relief pitchers. Chad Patrick was perfect through two innings, and Trevor Megill allowed only one hit in his closing frame to secure the victory for the Brewers. St. Louis attempted to rally, but the Brewers' defensive composure and timely hitting secured the one-run win.
