Game Recap

The Minnesota Twins lost to the Cleveland Guardians with a final score of 4-13 at Progressive Field. It was a difficult afternoon for Twins pitching, as Minnesota allowed 13 runs while struggling to contain a potent Cleveland lineup that recorded multiple home runs throughout the contest.

Twins starter Joe Ryan had a challenging outing, surrendering 8 earned runs on 10 hits over 4.0 innings of work. The damage included 6 home runs allowed by Ryan, which set the tone for the Guardians' offensive dominance. Following Ryan's exit, the bullpen also faced pressure, with Woo-Suk Go allowing 3 runs over an inning, while Kody Funderburk and Tommy Nance also conceded a run apiece.

Conversely, Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee delivered a steady performance to secure the win. Bibee pitched 6.0 innings, allowing only 2 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 5 batters. The Guardians' bullpen maintained the lead, as Colin Holderman, Matt Festa, and Shawn Armstrong combined to close out the final three frames, limiting the Twins to only two additional runs.

The Cleveland offense was led by stellar individual efforts. Petey Halpin had a standout day, going 3-for-5 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs. Patrick Bailey was equally impressive, finishing 4-for-5 with a home run and 2 RBIs, while Chase DeLauter also contributed significantly by going 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs. Rhys Hoskins added to the power display with a 2-for-5 performance that included 2 home runs and 2 RBIs.

For the Twins, offensive production was spread thin. Brooks Lee provided a bright spot, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Trevor Larnach recorded a 2-for-5 day with an RBI. Byron Buxton also managed a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3. Despite these efforts, the team was unable to overcome the significant deficit created by the early offensive outburst from the Guardians.
