New York starter Gerrit Cole set the tone early, delivering six scoreless innings while striking out seven and allowing only four hits. The Yankees' offense provided the necessary support, breaking through against Chicago starter Anthony Kay, who surrendered three runs over 5.1 innings of work.

The scoring stayed low until the Yankees built their cushion. Max Schuemann proved to be a difference-maker off the bench, providing a key spark with a 1-for-2 performance that included two crucial RBIs. Anthony Volpe also contributed to the scoring, going 1-for-4 with an RBI, while Jasson Dominguez added a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-3.

Chicago made a late surge in the bottom of the ninth against Yankees reliever David Bednar. Chase Meidroth provided the highlight for the White Sox, launching a home run that accounted for both of Chicago's runs in the frame. Despite that late pressure, the Yankees held on for the one-run victory.
