Game Recap

New York Yankees defeated Tampa Bay Rays 5-1 on a night defined by power hitting and masterful pitching at Tropicana Field. The Yankees offense relied heavily on the long ball, tallying three home runs throughout the contest to separate themselves from the Rays early and often.

The victory was anchored by starting pitcher Cam Schlittler, who put on a clinic over eight innings of work. Schlittler allowed only four hits and one earned run while striking out eight batters and issuing no walks, keeping the Rays' offense largely neutralized throughout his 101-pitch outing. David Bednar closed the door in the ninth, striking out one in a perfect frame to seal the win.

For the Tampa Bay Rays, Griffin Jax took the loss after pitching five innings. Despite recording 10 strikeouts, Jax allowed three earned runs and one home run.
