Game Recap

New York Yankees defeated Tampa Bay Rays 12-4 in a lopsided contest at Tropicana Field. The Yankees' offense was relentless from the start, overcoming early challenges to put up a dozen runs against the Tampa Bay pitching staff, highlighted by a dominant multi-homer performance from Ben Rice.

Yankees starting pitcher Paul Blackburn provided two innings of work, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three. The bullpen effort was anchored by Angel Chivilli, who provided two scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts, and Brent Headrick, who contributed 1.2 innings with three strikeouts of his own. The combined effort kept the Rays' offense largely in check throughout the afternoon.

On the mound for the Rays, Drew Rasmussen struggled early, surrendering six earned runs on seven hits in just 2.1 innings. The Yankees capitalized on the opportunity, forcing Tampa Bay to utilize a deep bullpen that ultimately allowed six additional runs across the remaining frames.
