In a gripping matchup at Rogers Centre, the New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1, showcasing an impressive performance both offensively and on the mound. The victory solidifies the Yankees' edge in the series, leveraging strong pitching and key offensive contributions to secure the win.

The Yankees opened the scoring early, with a pivotal home run from Paul Goldschmidt in the first inning, who went 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs, adding to his consistent offensive presence this season. Not only did his performance provide early momentum, but it highlighted the importance of capitalizing on scoring opportunities.

In the second inning, Jasson Dominguez also made his mark, hitting a single that led to an additional run crossing the plate. Dominguez finished the game 1-for-4 with a home run and an RBI, demonstrating his ability to come through in clutch situations. Cody Bellinger contributed notably as well, adding another run with his 1-for-4 performance, which included a well-timed hit that kept the Yankees' offense flowing.

On the pitching front, Cam Schlittler delivered a dominant performance, throwing 7 innings while allowing only 6 hits and a single run, registering 7 strikeouts in the process. His control was evident despite allowing 4 walks, and he closed out the inning effectively after conceding a home run to Kazuma Okamoto, who went 1-for-3 with 1 RBI. Schlittler's ability to limit damage ensured the Yankees stayed ahead throughout the game.

As the game continued, both teams showcased solid defensive efforts, but the Yankees’ bullpen was equally impressive. Fernando Cruz, pitching 1 inning, faced challenges with 3 walks yet managed to keep the Blue Jays scoreless. David Bednar closed the game out with a flawless final inning, striking out 3 batters and sealing the Yankees’ victory.

The Blue Jays struggled to find a rhythm at the plate, with several key hitters like George Springer and Nathan Lukes going hitless. Despite scoring a run with Okamoto's home run in the seventh, the Blue Jays could not capitalize on their chances and hastily fell behind.
