Game Recap

Philadelphia Phillies defeated Cincinnati Reds 4-1 at Great American Ball Park in a matchup defined by stellar pitching. Philadelphia starter Zack Wheeler set the tone early, navigating through seven innings of work while allowing only one run and four hits. His command was impeccable as he racked up 14 strikeouts and did not surrender a single walk, stifling the Cincinnati offense for most of the contest.

The Phillies broke through offensively behind the power of Kyle Schwarber, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Supported by multi-hit efforts from Derek Hill and Justin Crawford, who both finished 2-for-4, the Phillies maintained consistent pressure. Trea Turner added to the effort, going 1-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, while Edmundo Sosa chipped in with a 1-for-3 performance that included an RBI.

Cincinnati's only run of the game came via a solo home run from Eugenio Suarez, who finished 1-for-4. Despite putting several runners on base, the Reds struggled to capitalize against the Philadelphia pitching staff. The bullpen combination of Orion Kerkering, Jonathan Bowlan, and Jhoan Duran held the lead firmly in the late innings, with Duran closing out the ninth by striking out three batters while allowing only one hit.
