Game Recap

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Cleveland Guardians 5-3 in a hard-fought contest at Progressive Field. While Pittsburgh started with strong pitching performances, a late-inning offensive surge by Cleveland ultimately decided the outcome.

Khristian Curtis delivered a dominant start for the Pirates, pitching 5.0 scoreless innings while allowing only two hits and striking out four. The Pirates' bullpen maintained the lead into the late stages of the game, but Cleveland's offense found their rhythm against the Pittsburgh relievers in the final innings to erase the deficit.

The game turned in the bottom half of the innings as Dennis Santana surrendered a home run during his 0.1 innings of work, and Brandon Eisert allowed three runs across his 0.2 innings on the mound. Cleveland's pitching staff, led by Logan Allen and a collection of effective relievers including Cade Smith, kept the Pirates' offense in check for the remainder of the game.
