Game Recap

The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 on Tuesday at American Family Field. The Pirates jumped out to an early lead against Brewers starter Brandon Sproat, who gave up four earned runs in his three innings of work, and managed to hold off a late charge from the home team to secure the victory.

Pittsburgh starting pitcher Bubba Chandler navigated through 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out five. Though he faced some pressure, the Pirates' bullpen combined for 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball to preserve the narrow lead, with Camilo Doval earning the final three outs and Mason Montgomery striking out three in his lone inning of relief.

The Brewers attempted a comeback behind a solid effort from their bullpen. Garrett Stallings pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts, followed by two innings of one-hit ball from Aaron Ashby and a clean inning from Chad Patrick, but the damage done in the early frames proved to be insurmountable for Milwaukee.
