Game Recap

San Diego Padres defeated Atlanta Braves 8-3 at Truist Park in a decisive road victory. The Padres built an early lead and relied on a multi-home run performance from Manny Machado to secure the win. The offensive output was supported by a balanced lineup that consistently pressured the Atlanta pitching staff throughout the contest.

The Padres' pitching staff effectively contained the Braves' bats for the majority of the night. Starting pitcher Walker Buehler provided 5.2 innings of work, allowing two earned runs on just two hits while striking out three. Despite issuing five walks, Buehler kept the Braves from mounting significant rallies before handing the ball to the bullpen.

Atlanta's starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez struggled through 4.1 innings, surrendering five earned runs on nine hits and two home runs. Reliever JR Ritchie took over and provided 3.2 innings of work, but also yielded three earned runs and two home runs, allowing the Padres to pull away. The Braves saw a brief spark from Jim Jarvis, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, but the deficit proved too great to overcome.
