Game Recap

In a tightly contested match at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the San Diego Padres fell to the Baltimore Orioles with a final score of 3-7. The game, marked by strong offensive displays from the Orioles, saw San Diego unable to capitalize on their chances, ultimately leading to their defeat.

The scoring kicked off early in the game, with the Orioles taking charge. They managed to put up a crooked number in the third inning, led by Gunnar Henderson, who went 3-for-3 and added a home run along with two RBIs. His impressive performance contributed significantly to Baltimore's early lead.

On the Padres' side, Fernando Tatis Jr. delivered a solid effort, going 1-for-5 with one run and one RBI. His bat came alive late in the game, but it wasn't enough to mount a significant comeback. Manny Machado also had a good outing, with two hits in four at-bats, but he was unable to drive anyone home, missing key opportunities with runners on base.

Gavin Sheets also shined for San Diego, notching two hits and driving in two runs. His performance was a silver lining for the Padres, but it didn't convert into runs at critical moments. The Padres' starting pitcher, Griffin Canning, had a rough outing, yielding seven runs over five innings, which hindered their chances from the get-go.

The Orioles, on the other hand, showcased a balanced offensive attack with contributions from players like Pete Alonso and Samuel Basallo. Alonso notched a hit and two RBIs while Basallo contributed significantly with a home run, ensuring that the Orioles maintained their lead throughout the game. The Orioles' pitching was also effective, with Shane Baz providing a solid five innings, allowing only three runs.
