Game Recap

The Seattle Mariners lost to the Miami Marlins 0-2 on a quiet offensive night for Seattle at loanDepot park. Miami's pitching staff combined to stifle the Mariners' lineup, keeping them off the scoreboard for the duration of the contest.

The scoring began early for the Marlins, supported by a home run from Kyle Stowers, who finished the game 1-for-3. Xavier Edwards also contributed significantly, driving in a run while going 2-for-4 at the plate. Otto Lopez added a multi-hit effort, finishing 2-for-4 with a run scored to help secure the victory.

Seattle starter George Kirby took the loss, despite a respectable outing. Kirby pitched 6.0 innings, allowing 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 7 batters without issuing a single walk. Nick Davila provided 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, but the Mariners' bats remained unable to provide the necessary run support to overcome the early deficit.

Key Performances

For Miami, Tyler Phillips earned credit for the effort on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings with 3 strikeouts and allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks. The bullpen was lights out thereafter, with Cade Gibson, Michael Petersen, and Pete Fairbanks combining for 4.0 scoreless innings to seal the shutout.

On the offensive side for Seattle, J.P. Crawford, Dominic Canzone, Cal Raleigh, Josh Naylor, and Luke Raley each tallied one hit, but the team could not string together enough offense to score. Josh Naylor reached base twice, recording one hit and drawing a walk, while Victor Robles also worked a walk in his lone at-bat.
