Game Recap

Seattle Mariners lost to Tampa Bay Rays 2-7 on a night where the home side dominated the offensive narrative at Tropicana Field. The Rays leveraged an explosive effort to secure the win, keeping the Mariners' offense largely contained throughout the contest.

The Rays took control early, supported by a potent performance from their lineup. While Nick Martinez provided a steady start for Tampa Bay, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing only 2 earned runs, the Rays' bats broke through against Luis Castillo. Castillo, who pitched 5.0 innings, surrendered 4 earned runs on 9 hits, including 3 home runs that set the tone for the Rays' victory.

The Mariners struggled to mount a consistent response despite a solo effort from Cole Young, who accounted for one of the team's two runs with a home run. J.P. Crawford provided a bright spot by going 2-for-4, but the Mariners' lineup was held in check for much of the evening, ultimately resulting in a lopsided final score in favor of Tampa Bay.
