Game Recap

The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 in a contest held at the Rogers Centre. Tampa Bay's pitching staff set the tone early, with starter Griffin Jax delivering a solid performance over 6.0 innings, allowing only one earned run on three hits while striking out five batters.

While the Blue Jays managed a run off Cam Booser via a home run in his 0.2 innings of work, the Rays' bullpen effectively shut the door thereafter. Kevin Kelly provided 1.1 scoreless innings of relief, followed by Bryan Baker, who tossed a perfect ninth inning to secure the win.

Offensively, the Rays capitalized on opportunities throughout the game. Despite a quiet day from the top of the order, Tampa Bay found production from the middle and lower portions of the lineup. A pivotal moment came against Toronto reliever Jeff Hoffman, who allowed three runs—all unearned—during his 0.2 innings of work, allowing the Rays to pull ahead.

Key Performances

Junior Caminero led the Rays' offensive efforts, going 2-for-4 on the day. Victor Mesa Jr. was also instrumental, recording two hits in three at-bats and driving in two runs. Chandler Simpson contributed a hit in two at-bats, adding an RBI and drawing a walk, while Ben Williamson added an RBI as well.

For the Blue Jays, Alejandro Kirk provided the primary power, going 2-for-3 with a home run and one RBI. George Springer also notched an RBI for Toronto. On the mound for the Blue Jays, Spencer Miles provided stability in relief, throwing 3.2 scoreless innings while striking out four, but the team could not overcome the early deficit created by the Rays' offensive surge.
